FIR
Faculty in Residence Program

Faculty in Residence (FIR) bridges the classroom experience by providing formal and informal resident-faculty interactions through educational programming, sessions, individual and small-group advising, and casual association. They collaborate with the Resident Officers (ROs) and Resident Advisors (RAs) to develop encompassing programs of value to residents’ development.

How?

The FIRs are faculty members of the AUC and are available in each location as they reside in their apartments at the student residences. They devote approximately 10 to 12 hours per week to the program, so they are reachable at times certain times to residents. They interact with residents at least once per week (formally and informally) to help integrate the academic experience with the overall student experience. Faculty-in-Residence have the flexibility to utilize resources and skills to attend to individuals’ interests and development and create encompassing programs with residential life staff targeting more residents.
